Confetti is a performing arts troupe especially designed for kids ages 8-14 years old. We work with children of all experience levels, who are committed to honing their skills in singing, dancing and overall stage presence. Our mission is to see kids grow in the performing arts through great teaching, rehearsing and teamwork. We challenge kids in a fun, positive way and to give them opportunities to use their talents in various performing venues. Traditionally, Confetti performs at Glendale Glitters, as special guests for “Pitches & Tones” concerts, and other events throughout the season.
Heather Walker, director of Confetti, has been directing various groups and musicals for more than 25 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Whittier College and is currently a choral director for 5th-8th graders in the Peoria Unified School District. Heather has music directed several camps as well as some main-stage productions (“Guys and Dolls,” “Annie Jr.,” “Wizard of Oz”) at Spotlight. Previous to her director days, Heather did her share of performing as well, in such shows as “Bye, Bye Birdie” “Wizard of Oz” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” and “Peter Pan.”
Haley Opdycke, choreographer, also happens to be Heather’s daughter. Haley has been dancing since she was very young and has danced at several places, including Kearny Mesa Dance Studio, Marilyn’s Academy of Dance, Devney’s, Ironwood High School, Phoenix Theatre and right here at Spotlight. Haley performed in such Spotlight shows as “Guys and Dolls,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Cats.” Haley choreographed Spotlight’s “Annie Jr.” and has choreographed several Spotlight Youth Theatre camps.
Although Haley is our resident choreographer for Confetti, we may occasionally have a guest choreographer. Last year, Brooke Shobe choreographed for us for a semester while Haley was away.
